Head Professor at Trinity Jiu Jitsu:

Professor Daryl “Preacher” Rodriguez

Head Instructor, Dr. Daryl “Preacher” Rodriguez has over 20 years of grappling/jiu jitsu experience and is a 2nd Degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Andre “Tim” Monteiro. Dr. Daryl is the main instructor for the adult and kids classes.

Dr. Daryl also holds the rank of brown belt in Kenseido (Karate and Aikido). During his life, he has trained in a variety of martial arts, including Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Krav Maga, and others. In 2002, Dr. Daryl was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as it was part of the Kenseido curriculum. In 2004 he began training purely in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Karun Fiederer. Mr. Fiederer was under the Alliance/Brasa flag, (under Pedro Alberto and  and was the first Black Belt to have a school in San Antonio) and soon developed a passion for the sport.

Professor Daryl is currently is affiliated and trains under 4th degree black belt, Andre “Tim” Monteiro. Professor Tim is under the Carlson Gracie lineage (under Francisco “Toco” and Rodrigo Medeiros). Professor Daryl received his BJJ black belt in May of 2017 directly from Andre Monteiro.

In addition he has over 15 years experience teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, both gi and no-gi.

He has also trained with numerous well-known and accomplished BJJ practitioners such as Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles, Fabio “Pateta” Prado, and Pedro Alberto.

Over the past 20 years, he has competed and medaled in numerous local, state, and international tournaments. He has also competed in the prestigious International Masters and Seniors Tournament in Rio De Janiero, Brazil and Master Worlds in the United States.

He has received a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from UTSA, a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Southern Evangelical Seminary.

Beyond this, he has worked with all ages in a variety of circumstances. He taught middle school and high school Bible and Art classes for 10 years, pastored a Bible Church in San Antonio for over 4 years, and has organized and led many church ministries ( homeless, education, anti-abortion ) for many years.

He is President of Love of Truth Ministries, a Christian apologetics and anti-abortion ministry, and is also an adjunct professor for Liberty University Online (teaching classes in the Religion Department).

Dr. Daryl, his wife Colleen, daughter Amaris, and son Zion live in Spring Branch Texas.

Adults and Kids BJJ and Judo:

Professor Ron “Sarge” Williams

Professor Ron “Sarge” Williams is a 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian (BJJ) Jiu Jitsu under Andre “Tim” Monteiro and also a Black Belt in Judo. An Army combat veteran, Ron began his BJJ journey in 2008 by way of the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP). MACP is a system of hand-to-hand fighting techniques based on Judo, BJJ, Muay Thai, and other martial arts. A few months later, he began training BJJ under Professor Karun Fiederer, one of the first BJJ black belts in San Antonio. It was at here that he met Prof. Daryl Rodriguez, who was a purple belt and an assistant coach at the time.

Professor Ron received his blue belt in 2009 and was then sent to the US Army Combatives School. After graduating from the level 3 Master Trainer Course, he began to train and certify soldiers in combatives. After retiring from active duty in 2012, he was awarded his purple belt by Professor Fiederer and continued to train and compete in both BJJ and judo. In April of 2016, Ron was awarded his brown belt by Professor Fiederer. In 2017, Professor Ron joined back up with his old teacher, Professor Daryl Rodriguez, founder of Trinity Jiu Jitsu, and under the head of  the A-Force Association, Professor Andre “Tim” Monteiro.

Professor Ron “Sarge” Williams received his Black Belt on June 19th, 2020 and currently teaches BJJ and Judo at Trinity Jitsu.

Assistant Coach/Kids:

Marcos Salmeron

Assistant/Kids Coach, Marcos Salmeron has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2013 is currently a Black belt, which he received under Professor Andre Monteiro and Professor Daryl Rodriguez in 2022. He also has over 10 years of experience in various combat martial arts (boxing, kickboxing, karate, and no-gi grappling). Coach Marcos also served our country as a Specialist in the United States Army Reserves.

Coach Marcos has a passion for teaching and helping kids reach their full potential in martial arts, and in life! He believes Jiu Jitsu can help kids learn valuable life lessons, such as discipline, perseverance, patience, respect, and humility, and character. He also strives to encourage the kids to use what they have learned to prevent the persistent problem of bullying in our society.

Adults and Kids Wrestling:

Coach Joshua Warrick

Wrestling Coach, Joshua Warrick has over 20 years of wrestling experience. His wrestling journey began at 7 years old, wrestling in local clubs, and then eventually wrestled for his high school, Preble Shawnee in Cambden Ohio. He competed at university nationals/collegiate freestyle levels and was the Texas freestyle champion in the open and college divisions. An Air force veteran, he also competed extensively during his time in the military. In addition, Coach Josh was the assistant wrestling coach for the San Antonio Christian School (SACS). During his stent at SACS, Josh coached one state champion and two runner’s up.

Coach Josh joined Trinity Jiu Jitsu in 2019 and began coaching the wrestling program in 2020. Coach Josh’s passion is to impart the skills of wrestling to his students and inspire them to reach their goals. In addition to his wrestling experience, he also holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Currently, Josh works full-time as the code-writer. He lives in Spring Branch with his wife, Brynn, and four kids. When Coach Josh is not working or grappling at the gym, you can find him hanging out with his wonderful family and indulging in one of his most favorite pastimes- fishing!

Coach Van Midthun

Coach Van has over 40 years in martial arts including Wing Chun, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Sanda. He holds 1st dan or equivalents in TKD, and two forms of Chinese Gung Fu. Van is also an Air Force Special Operations Command veteran with training in military combatives, BJJ and Judo, with over 30 years of martial arts teaching experience. He also holds a BBA in Marketing and currently works full time in Data and Analytics.
